2020 Virtual Camp Details

Online Learning Camp Package

  • Each student will receive 2 half hour classes every day between the hours of 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM
  • Each student will receive 2 half hour lessons per week. Lesson groups will be kept to a maximum of 3 students.
  • The price will be $250 per student for the 4 week camp, July 1-28. Classes will meet on July 3rd

Instructional Track Selections

In addition to lessons on their instrument, students with at least 1 year of experience on their instrument will have the opportunity to select the track of classes they’d like to take:

Traditional Track

  • 30 Minutes of Music Theory Class
  • 30 minutes of Music Appreciation Class
  • Elementary, Middle & High School Levels

Jazz Track

  • 30 Minutes of Jazz History Class
  • 30 minutes of Jazz Fundamentals, Jazz Improv or Drum Set Classes
  • Elementary, Middle & High School Levels

Beginners

All students who are starting an instrument for the very first time will be placed in our beginner level classes. These classes and lessons are designed to provide instruction specific to beginning players. Beginners will not have the option to select the Traditional or Jazz tracks.

Second Instrument

  • Students with 2 or more years of experience on their 1st instrument will be able to take lessons on a 2nd instrument
  • 2nd instrument lesson only package would include 2 thirty minute lessons per-week 
  • $125

Class Descriptions

Music Theory         

  • Offered to all students on all levels who select the Traditional Track of classes
  • Designed to provide students with a better understanding of the language of music
  • Students will learn the essentials of music notation, harmony and ear training

 

Music Appreciation         

  • Offered to all students on all levels who select the Traditional Track of classes
  • Designed to provide students with a better understanding of music history, genres, and composers 
  • Students will gain a knowledge of different styles of music through videos, listening, and class activities

 

Jazz History

  • Offered to all students on the Elementary, Middle and High School levels who select the Jazz Track of classes
  • Designed to provide students with a better understanding of the history of Jazz and it’s greatest performers
  • Students will learn about Jazz music through listening, videos and solo transcriptions

 

Jazz Improv

  • Offered to students on the Middle and High School levels who select the Jazz Track of classes
  • Designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to create improvised solos on their instrument
  • Students will learn about scales, chords, phrasing, style and form used in jazz improvisation

 

Jazz Fundamentals

  • Offered to students on the Elementary level who select the Jazz Track of classes
  • Designed to introduce students to fundamentals of jazz performance
  • Students will learn how to play jazz with appropriate style, rhythm, articulation and inflection

 

Drum Set

  • Offered only to percussion students on the Elementary, Middle and High School levels who select the Jazz Track of classes
  • Designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to play the drum set
  • Students will learn how to play different styles and beats on the drum set
  • Students must have their own drum set at home to participate in this class
